CROSSROADS CHAPEL is a Christ centered
congregation. Through the power of the Holy Spirit we strive to
please God the Father through Jesus Christ the Son. As such we believe
that the ONLY way a person can enter heaven is through a personal relationship
with Jesus Christ.
Therefore our focus is on communicating God's truth to
the next generation of Soldiers and families in a contemporary manner. As told
in Exodus, when the Israelites entered Canaan,
God told them to set up monuments of stones to remind the next generation of His
greatness. Unfortunately, we read later that the next generation failed because
the previous generation did not live out and proclaim God's goodness and grace.
We want to do all we can to communicate that God's Son, Jesus Christ, is the
answer to the issues and questions the current and the next generation face.
FAQs
Is CROSSROADS CHAPEL tied to any particular denomination?
No! We are a non-denominational contemporary worship service.
Everyone is welcome no matter what background you do or do not claim. We reach
out to the entire military community: Soldiers, family members, civilians,
retirees, and their friends.
Do I need to dress up for the service?
You can if you want, however you will find that we are a very causal
congregation. It is not uncommon to find people in the congregation
wearing, jeans, shorts, Dockers and even ACUs. Come dress so that you are
comfortable. Our focus is on worshiping Jesus and not on how well you
dress.
What if I come on a Sunday when you are having an after service
fellowship?
Please join us! As a guest of the service they only thing we
expect from you is that you enjoy a time of fellowship with us.
What sort of Children's Programs do you have during the service?
Babies up to two years old can go into our nursery with certified
child-care staff. Children 3 years old (potty trained) through 1st Grade are
invited to go to a children's church program located in our fellowship hall.
Children 2nd Grade and above participate in worship with the rest of the
congregation. We believe that our children learn how to worship by
participating with their families.
Do you have a Sunday School Program?
As a military chapel located on Fort Sam Houston we do not have our own
Sunday School Program, rather we participate in the post wide Sunday School
Program. All Sunday School classes are held at the Dodd Field Chapel from
0930 to 1030. For more information on Dodd Field Chapel please click on
the FIND US link at the top of the page,.
Do you have a Small Group or Home Group program?
We are in the process of setting up this ministry. We hope to have it
up and running by early 2010. Please check the event page from time to time.
We will announce in the service and here on the web
when we kick the program off.
Do you have a Youth Group?
Yes we have a Youth Group. On Sundays at 1430 @ Dodd Field Chapel
the youth from all Fort Sam Houston chapel services meet . This is an
ecumenical meeting where both Catholic and Protestant youth enjoy a time of fun
and fellowship with one another.
We also have a Tuesday evening youth discipleship meeting for the youth of
CROSSROADS CHAPEL (7th - 12th grade). In this meeting youth are helped in
developing the faith tools necessary to be successful adult follower of
Christ.
Do you expect me to give money in the offering plate?
As a guest we do not expect any financial assistance from you when the
offering plate is passed. It is our pleasure to serve you. If you
decide to become a regular attendee of our service what you give in the
offering plate is between you and God. We view tithes and offerings as an
act of worship. |
